About the Role

The Town of Hilton Head Island is seeking a strategic and collaborative financial leader to serve as Assistant Director of Finance. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity focused on cross-departmental coordination, financial strategy, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the Town’s budget development, financial reporting, and audits

  • Collaborate across departments to ensure fiscal alignment and transparency

  • Manage fund accounting, CAFR, and governmental compliance

  • Contribute to long-term financial planning and capital improvement initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred)

  • CPA preferred

  • Experience in municipal, county, or public sector finance leadership

  • Strong understanding of fund accounting and audit processes

  • Proven ability to influence policy, manage cross-functional teams, and drive outcomes
