About the Role
The Town of Hilton Head Island is seeking a strategic and collaborative financial leader to serve as Assistant Director of Finance. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity focused on cross-departmental coordination, financial strategy, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and oversee the Town’s budget development, financial reporting, and audits
Collaborate across departments to ensure fiscal alignment and transparency
Manage fund accounting, CAFR, and governmental compliance
Contribute to long-term financial planning and capital improvement initiatives
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred)
CPA preferred
Experience in municipal, county, or public sector finance leadership
Strong understanding of fund accounting and audit processes
Proven ability to influence policy, manage cross-functional teams, and drive outcomes
